CRRC Sifang will lead the development of new carbon fiber composite materials for high-speed rail

Recently, CRRC Qingdao Sifang Vehicle Research Institute Co., Ltd., together with the Ningbo Institute of Materials, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Changchun Yinghua Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and other domestic top materials research institutions, organized the development and application of key technologies for rapid prototyping and equipment of thermoplastic carbon fiber composite materials for rail transit. High-speed trains require structural materials such as lightweight, high strength, and high modulus. The project has been approved by Shandong Province's 2018 key research and development plan (major scientific and technological innovation project) with a support fund of 5 million yuan.

According to reports, the project is mainly aimed at the huge demand for high-performance thermoplastic carbon fiber composite products for domestic high-speed trains. The focus is on joint innovation research on key technologies and demonstration applications of rapid prototyping of carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin composite materials for rail transit, breaking through thermoplastic carbon fiber composite materials. Key technologies such as material design and optimization, component structure design, and key processes for rapid prototyping, to achieve efficient mass production and typical application verification of thermoplastic carbon fiber composite parts in rail transportation and other fields, and to improve the city's rail transportation industry and new materials. The industry's independent innovation capability and industrial transformation and upgrading will radiate aerospace, automotive, new energy, high-end equipment and other industries.
