High-quality cotton fund receives 2 million euros from the German government

The Better Cotton Initiative's global investment vehicle has received €2 million (US$2.14 million) from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to support its plans around the world. The organization went to the Quality Cotton Initiative Growth and Innovation Fund (GIF) launched in early 2016 (2016) to help BCI achieve its goal of serving 5 million cotton farmers and 30% of global cotton production by 2020.

The fund is managed by BCI's partner strategy partner, the Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH), which invested more than €5 million in the program in (2016) and expressed its contribution to the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The donation will be used globally, investing in training and capacity building to address sustainability issues in cotton agriculture, including pesticide use, water efficiency and serious working conditions, such as child labour, gender issues and unfairness. Salary treatment.

Dr. Müller is also behind the scenes of the Sustainable Textiles Partnership, which aims to achieve social, ecological and economic improvements in the ready-to-wear and textile supply chain.

About half of the major German retailers and ready-to-wear companies, including Otto Group, C&A, Aldi, Lidl, KiK, adidas and Tchibo, have developed regulations including building safety, better industrial relations, basic living wages, and fiber.
